The Great Slavery Debate
Should slavery be abolished? Students at Constitution High School debate the advantages and disadvantages of abolishing slavery from an antebellum 19th century perspective. Having students focus on the social, economic, cultural, and to some extent political nature of this debate, helps students understand the context of America's "peculiar institution", roadblocks African Americans needed to overcome in order to abolish slavery, as well as frame the upcoming 10th grade American history course. The purpose of this blog is to create a forum in which students can self-reflect and continue the process of peer-to-peer evaluation as they debate in class.

ReplyDeleteWOW!! Erica came a lot stronger in he debate than Ishaiah did.Ishaiah was able to ask that she didn't have any evidence to prove but at the end Erica was the one to the win.
ReplyDeleteI did wonderful....i had great arguments. since it's a tie trust me my partner is going down lolz.....good luck erica
ReplyDelete:O the first tie! this was a very interesting debate to watch...but I couldn't understand them really because of all the loud noise outside. there will be a round 2 though so good luck to both speakers :)
ReplyDeletewow i cant believe that this was a tie both came strong and i want to see this debate again
ReplyDeleteThis was a silent debate. I heard one argument from both sides, and a few points. I think ishia spoke up a little louder than her opponent. what was good she was CX when she said that "whites don't care about their feelings." When Erica was CX, She backed up her argument with the slavery reader,pg. 37. Seeing that they tie, I wonder what going change in their second.
ReplyDeleteWell as we all know this was the second round both debaters were excellent Erica was able to attack Ishaiah during their CX part. But in the end Erica Green took the win.
