Keith vs. Yaozang
Wow. What an improvement by Keith and a show of great courage and analysis by Yaozang. Yaozang's better off as slaves was one of the best handling of that argument in our class! Keith presented a new argument not used by any other student in that Africans were considered chattel (property) not necessarily an occupation. In the end both were stumped during the CX and our class needs to learn how to handle the Three-Fifths of a person and the challenge to slaves happiness as exhibited by their efforts to rebel and run away. Rebuttals need to discuss why during this debate your opponent was wrong (direct challenges to their opening speech and issues that arise during CX) as well as reassert why your arguments and evidence (that was or wasnt challenged) are better. Keep at it 3rd period!

Both arguments are good. Both have good evidence. Yaozang did very well in his first debate. Keith came twice and did very well in both.
ReplyDeleteThis debate was some what comfusing because they both had evidence but it seem like yaozang didnt really know where he got his evidence from or what it meant he just kept saying that it was in the book and that's what it said. keith knew where he got his evidence from and I believe it explained it so I think he should of won not yaozang. no affence
ReplyDeletethis debate did not go the way i had thoght it would go because yazozang is a very shy and quite person. but he was able to stand up and speak cleary to the entire class. keith did the same thing and improved so much from his last debate. i belive that both yazozang and keith tryed there best and both made strong arguments hover the rebultes where both rather short
ReplyDeleteI think they both did great today, Yaozong has more evidence than Keith, but they didn't answer the question. And their rebuttals are not very well.
ReplyDeletei want to commend yao for having the courage to get up and debate in front of a whole class, for that i am grateful to have judged this debate. i think during the CX you both were stumped, but Yao you provided so much evidence and i think that was the key here in this debate. For keith delivered the chattle argument, it alo went with inhumane treatment, and his two arguments got knocked out by yao. i think both of them did good, and am glad they took the stand to debate.
ReplyDeleteduring todays debates i was a judge. I want to congrat yaozang for going up in front of the class and debating and Keith for going twice. Both debates was good. Yaozang had a lot of evidence to back up his arguments. Keith arguments were somewhat strong his chattel argument didnt really have any evidence. Both of them didnt really asnwer the question in the CX good enough and the rebuttals were weak. They both only restated their arguments and they didnt add anything about the others arguments. Overall i think that we still need to work on rebuttals but other then that they both did a great job.
ReplyDeleteYao really impressed me durring this debate, I congradulate him for courage and victory. Yao really brought a good amount of evidence, to the table, and I believe he beat Keith because Keith didn't have as much evidence,
ReplyDeleteYao really did a great job today! i wanted to congratulate keith on how he went up twice and debate. I like how Yao came at Keith during the CX with great questions, but unfortunately those questions had no answers to it :( and the same thing goes with keith, he asked great questions but you guys should at least try to answer those questions the best you can. But great job you guys. Congrats Yao.
ReplyDeleteI would like to congratulate Yaozang not only for winning but also for the confidence that he had during the debate. This was a good debate, Keith had good points but they weren't strong enough, didn't have much evidence to back them up, and the chattel reason went with the inhuman treatment. Yaozang you had great reasons and evidence, you knew what you were talking about and where you found it. Rebuttals, I have to say this is one of the worse rebuttals so far, Keith all you did was restate your arguments if you would have restated your arguments, attacked Yaozang, and brought in a little more evidence it would have been much better. Yaozang, you brought in some evidence into the rebuttal but it wasn't enough. Overall great debate! Congratz to both!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed watching this debate an was proud of both debaters Yaozong for going up there which is a very hard thing to do sometimes and Keith for going again. I liked yaozongs arguments and keith needed alittle more evidence for one of his arguments but for the most part they were good, however in the cx neither one of them did very well because they did not know how to answer the eponents questions and their rebuttals need alot more work. I would like to say congrats to yaozong for the win an keith for all of his hard work and effort.!
ReplyDeleteI had really liked this debate. Yaozong speech was very good and his points were very clear. Keith did good as well but it seemed like he was jus telling who his person was and not his arguments. Both did very well and I am proud that they had the courage to do ther debate.
